Coaching is a way of working with people, either as individuals or in teams, which helps them:
- Get really clear about where they want to go in their life/ work/ business
- Get into action -
to take the specific steps that will move them towards their goals - Understand themselves -
what they’re really about, what drives them, what holds them back, what things in life matter to them most - far more deeply.
However, perhaps confusingly, it’s not the same sort of role as people sometimes imagine from the obvious parallel of being a sports coach. When I coach someone, I’m sometimes a facilitator, sometimes a confidante, sometimes a companion, sometimes I challenge them or offer support or illumination; but (almost) never do I say “This is what I’d do” or “This is how you do it” or “Go and do this”. It really is a matter of helping people to find their own answers to their own problems.
What I bring to my work as a coach is my own varied experience of life and work along
with the knowledge and methods gained in my formal training. I am a Certified Professional
